Quetta, November 10, 2024 – Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has pledged to strengthen Balochistan’s law enforcement capabilities to effectively combat terrorism, following a tragic suicide bombing at Quetta Railway Station that claimed 27 lives and injured 62 others. During a meeting with Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti in Quetta, Naqvi promised full federal support to bolster peace and security in the province.

The bombing, which occurred on Saturday morning, targeted a crowded platform as passengers awaited the Jaffar Express. An initial investigation by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) reported that the attacker detonated 8–10 kilograms of explosives. The attack prompted widespread condemnation from national leaders and international figures, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

In discussions with CM Bugti, Naqvi emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening local police, CTD, Levies, and other forces in Balochistan through advanced training and resources. Both leaders honored the victims, declaring, “The fight against terrorism is the fight of every Pakistani.”

Later, in a high-level meeting, Naqvi announced that Balochistan’s security forces would receive enhanced resources and strategic support to crush anti-state threats. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to confront and defeat elements attempting to destabilize Pakistan.
