Islamabad, May 22, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to China from May 23 to 26 at the invitation of the Chinese government, the Foreign Office announced on Friday.

The visit comes at a significant moment as Pakistan and China celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Officials said the trip would reaffirm the longstanding Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and promote the shared vision of a closer “Pakistan-China Community with a Shared Future.”

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.

The two sides are expected to review bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and strategic areas, with special focus on the high-quality development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, trade, investment, industrial collaboration, agricultural modernization, information technology, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.

The prime minister will begin his visit in Hangzhou, where he will chair the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference focusing on IT and telecom, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and agriculture.

In Beijing, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend a reception hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit is expected to deepen political trust, strengthen strategic coordination, expand practical cooperation, and further consolidate the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.
