Rawalpindi, July 13, 2026: Security forces have killed eight more terrorists during the ongoing Operation Shaban in Balochistan, taking the total number of militants eliminated in the operation to 79, media reported on Monday, citing security sources.
Operation Shaban was launched after the July 7 terrorist attack in the Mangi Dam area, in which 27 police personnel were martyred. The operation is being conducted jointly by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) and Balochistan Police through coordinated ground and aerial operations across the province.
According to security sources, a total of 117 terrorists have been killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations carried out across Balochistan since July 5.
Separately, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Police for eliminating additional terrorists during the operation.
In a statement shared by the Interior Ministry, Naqvi lauded the security forces for their professionalism and effectiveness in executing both ground and aerial operations.
“The fight will continue until the elimination of Fitna-al-Hindustan terrorists,” the minister said.
The government uses the term “Fitna-al-Hindustan” for militant groups operating in Balochistan that it alleges are backed by India to carry out terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.
Naqvi said those attempting to destabilize peace in Balochistan were being brought to justice and reiterated that the entire nation stood firmly behind the country’s security forces in the fight against terrorism.
“Those responsible for shedding the blood of innocent people in Balochistan deserve no leniency,” he said, adding that the large number of terrorists killed in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations reflected the security forces’ high level of preparedness, professionalism and operational readiness.
Last week, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that Pakistan’s civil and military leadership had taken a unanimous decision to eradicate terrorism following a series of major attacks in Balochistan.
Speaking at a meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee on the National Action Plan in Quetta, attended by Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, the prime minister said the country’s leadership was united in its resolve to eliminate terrorism.
The meeting came a day after Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry revealed that at least 42 people—including four civilians, 27 police personnel and 11 security officials—had lost their lives in terrorist attacks and subsequent security operations in Balochistan since July 5.
