Wana, December 22, 2024: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, along with its enablers and financiers, during his visit to South Waziristan on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday, General Munir received a detailed briefing on the region’s security landscape and the ongoing counterterrorism operations.
Addressing officers and troops, the COAS lauded their resilience and dedication in combating terrorism, calling them the nation’s true heroes. “The entire nation is proud of the brave individuals fighting terrorism. Our martyrs are a source of immense pride for Pakistan, and their sacrifices will always be honored,” he remarked.
General Munir emphasized the critical role of national unity in combating extremism, stating, “With the unwavering support of the nation, Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies will ensure lasting peace and stability throughout the country.”
He further pledged to eliminate terrorism in all its forms, adding, “Our mission to root out terrorism is resolute. The courage, resilience, and determination of Pakistan’s armed forces remain the cornerstone of our sovereignty.”
The COAS also reiterated the military’s resolve to dismantle extremist networks, commonly referred to as ‘Khawarij,’ as well as their facilitators and financial supporters.
Earlier in the day, General Munir was welcomed in Wana by the Peshawar Corps Commander. The visit underscores the military’s unwavering efforts to restore peace, stability, and security across Pakistan, particularly in areas affected by terrorism.
