Islamabad, April 16, 2025: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday held a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, following the tragic killing of eight Pakistani nationals in Iran’s Sistan province.
According to a statement by Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, Araghchi expressed deep condolences and assured that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice. He also pledged full cooperation in the repatriation of the victims’ bodies.
The two officials discussed the April 12 terrorist attack in a remote village in Sistan, during which the Pakistani citizens were shot dead. The victims hailed from Bahawalpur district in Punjab, including six residents of Khanqah Sharif — among them Dilshad, his son Danish, and nephew Jafar. The other two victims, Muhammad Jamshed and Muhammad Khalid, were from Ahmedpur East.
During the conversation, Araghchi also briefed Senator Dar on the recent diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States, held in Oman on April 12. Senator Dar welcomed the dialogue and encouraged continued diplomatic efforts.
The call underscores the importance of ongoing coordination between Islamabad and Tehran as Pakistan seeks justice for its citizens and ensures their safe and dignified repatriation.
