Lahore, April 19, 2025: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed on Saturday that the national women’s cricket team will not travel to India for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, scheduled to be held later this year.

Naqvi made the announcement shortly after Pakistan wrapped up their ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier campaign unbeaten, securing a convincing seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the 14th match of the tournament at the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground.

The PCB chairman visited the venue to congratulate the national team on their dominant performance. Speaking to journalists, he reiterated that Pakistan’s participation in the tournament would be subject to the “Fusion Formula” — an arrangement introduced ahead of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy earlier this year.

“Pakistan will not travel to India, as this formula has already been agreed upon,” Naqvi stated.

When asked about the possibility of a neutral venue for Pakistan’s World Cup fixtures, Naqvi said the final decision rests with the host country but stressed that the national team will not be sent to India under current circumstances.

For context, Pakistan secured qualification for the World Cup with a commanding 87-run win over Thailand on Thursday, followed by today’s emphatic victory against Bangladesh — completing a flawless campaign.

Praising the team’s performance under captain Fatima Sana, Naqvi attributed the success to teamwork and cohesion.

“When a team gels well and plays as a unit, these are the results you see. They will definitely be rewarded — they deserve it,” he said.
