Ankara, April 19, 2025: Pakistan has reiterated its steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and called for urgent international action to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The statement came from National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who led Pakistan’s parliamentary delegation at the inaugural session of the Group of Parliaments in Support of Palestine, held in Ankara, Türkiye.

In his address, Speaker Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance advocating for the establishment of a sovereign, viable, and independent Palestinian state, based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.

The parliamentary summit in Ankara was followed by a larger gathering of global lawmakers in Istanbul, convened at the invitation of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Numan Kurtulmuş. The gathering aimed to reinforce global parliamentary solidarity with Palestine, promote the two-state solution, and push for an immediate end to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the occupied territories.

On the sidelines of the summit, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq held key bilateral meetings with Turkish Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, UAE Federal National Council Speaker Saqr Ghobash, and Malaysian House of Representatives Speaker Johari bin Abdul. The leaders pledged to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance inter-parliamentary collaboration.

The formation of the Group of Parliaments in Support of Palestine was hailed as a significant milestone in mobilizing legislative bodies around the world to take coordinated and meaningful action in support of Palestinian rights.
