Rawalpindi, May 2, 2025: Amid rising regional tensions, Pakistan’s military leadership has reaffirmed its preparedness to respond decisively to any aggression by India. A Special Corps Commanders Conference was convened on Friday, chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, to assess the evolving security environment in light of recent provocations along the Line of Control (LoC).
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the country’s top military leadership conducted a comprehensive review of the regional security situation, particularly focusing on the fallout from the Pahalgam incident and what it termed as India’s “deliberate escalatory actions.”
The forum expressed serious concern over the systematic targeting of civilians by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), calling it a blatant violation of international norms and human rights.
Reaffirming the armed forces’ unwavering resolve to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Army Chief lauded the professionalism, operational readiness, and high morale of the troops. He stressed the need for continued vigilance on all fronts.
The forum warned that India’s provocations could dangerously escalate tensions in the region. “Any act of aggression or misadventure will be met with an effective and proportionate ‘Iron Fist Response,’” the statement read.
Drawing parallels with past incidents, participants noted that India has a history of manufacturing crises to serve domestic political or military agendas. The Pahalgam incident, they said, mirrors the 2019 Pulwama attack, which preceded India’s revocation of Article 370 in IIOJK. The commanders argued that India’s recent moves are intended to distract from Pakistan’s gains on its western front and its ongoing economic recovery.
The military leadership also raised alarms over India’s efforts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty, warning that weaponizing water poses a grave threat not just to Pakistan’s 240 million people but to regional peace and security.
The forum further accused Indian intelligence and military agencies of sponsoring terrorism within Pakistan, terming such actions as violations of international law. “These provocations will not go unanswered,” it stated.
While reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, the Corps Commanders made it clear that attempts to destabilize the country through proxy warfare or coercion would be decisively countered. “No force can derail Pakistan’s pursuit of peace and development,” the commanders concluded, vowing unity and firm resolve in the face of external threats.
