Islamabad, May 8, 2025: In light of heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the federal capital for one day as a precautionary measure.

According to a notification issued on Thursday, both government and private schools and colleges in Islamabad will remain closed due to security concerns following a series of cross-border missile and drone strikes by India.

Officials stated that the move aims to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff amid the volatile security situation. While regular classes will be suspended, examinations scheduled for Wednesday will proceed as planned. Students appearing in exams have been advised to stay in touch with their respective institutions for any last-minute changes or updates.

The decision, the notification added, applies exclusively to academic activities. Institutions are expected to resume normal operations depending on how the security landscape evolves in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies have been placed on high alert, with enhanced monitoring across the capital.

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) confirmed that it has issued directives to all affiliated institutions in line with the district administration’s order.

The announcement comes after a late-night press briefing by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif, who confirmed that 26 Pakistani civilians were martyred and 46 others injured in 24 separate Indian strikes across six different locations.
