Washington/Islamabad/New Delhi – May 10, 2025: United States President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that Pakistan and India have agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire following heightened military tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), President Trump stated: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that Pakistan and India have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.”

The announcement came hours after a significant escalation in hostilities. In the early hours of Saturday, Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes on Indian military targets in response to what it described as Indian aggression.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, confirmed the ceasefire through his official X account, stating: “Both countries have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect.”

According to Pakistani security officials, the military launched Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos (“Iron Wall”) at dawn, targeting multiple Indian military installations. Reports suggest that the strikes resulted in the destruction of key Indian military assets, including a BrahMos missile depot in Beas, the Pathankot airfield, and Adampur airbase.
One of the most significant claims involves the destruction of India’s S-400 air defense system in Udhampur by a hypersonic missile launched from a JF-17 Thunder jet. The system, reportedly worth $1.5 billion, is considered one of India’s most advanced defense assets.
Pakistan’s military is said to have used Fateh-I surface-to-surface missiles fired from undisclosed locations to strike several additional targets. Security sources claim the strikes were directed at Indian positions allegedly responsible for earlier attacks on civilians and places of worship inside Pakistan.
Further unverified reports suggest that the G-Top supply depot of the Indian brigade headquarters in Uri was also destroyed.
The situation remains tense, though the ceasefire announcement has raised hopes for de-escalation and a return to dialogue.
