London, June 12, 2025: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has warned that any attempt by India to block Pakistan’s water supply would be viewed as an act of war, escalating already fraught regional tensions.
“If India blocks our water, war will be inevitable,” Bilawal declared in a BBC interview, directly addressing the Modi government and highlighting the gravity of the issue for Pakistan.
The former Foreign Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm and principled stance on regional and international matters, calling the country’s position “truthful and robust.” He emphasized that Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts have been acknowledged by the United States. “The U.S. is well aware of how we deal with terrorist groups,” he said, noting that American officials have closely monitored Pakistan’s actions against extremism.
Bilawal also pointed to Pakistan’s adherence to international financial protocols, stating, “Pakistan has completed the entire FATF process,” in reference to the Financial Action Task Force’s framework on anti-money laundering and counter-terror financing.
Earlier in London, Bilawal held talks with Hamish Falconer, the UK’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Leading a high-level parliamentary delegation, Bilawal urged the UK to continue its active role in promoting peace and dialogue between Pakistan and India.
The discussions centered on the escalating regional tensions, particularly in the wake of recent Indian military provocations. Bilawal praised the UK government’s consistent messaging in support of restraint, diplomatic engagement, and a peaceful path forward.
