Islamabad, June 19, 2025: Pakistan on Thursday issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent military actions against Iran, describing them as a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Speaking at the weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan denounced the Israeli strikes as “unjustified and illegal,” reiterating Pakistan’s principled stance on respect for sovereignty and international norms.

“Israeli aggression violates international laws. Iran has the full right of self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter,” the spokesperson stated.

He also confirmed that Iran is cooperating with Pakistan in the evacuation of its nationals, revealing that nearly 3,000 Pakistani citizens have already been safely evacuated from the conflict-hit country.

The spokesperson strongly criticized any targeting of Iran’s nuclear facilities, describing such actions as direct assaults on Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“This aggression has been collectively rejected by 21 Muslim countries through a joint statement that labels Israeli actions as a clear violation of the UN Charter,” Khan said.

On broader regional developments, he shared that Pakistan and the European Union have recently held consultations on nuclear non-proliferation, underscoring Islamabad’s commitment to global non-proliferation norms.

Turning to the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, Khan expressed serious concern over continued human rights violations. He specifically criticized Indian authorities for barring Eid prayers at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid and Eidgah, calling it a blatant infringement on religious freedoms.

Commenting on bilateral relations, he reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding ties with the United States and welcomed Washington’s statement supporting the Pakistan-India ceasefire agreement, terming it a positive development for regional peace.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office dismissed speculation about regime change in Iran as baseless. “Iran has maintained consistent engagement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA),” Khan affirmed, rejecting rumors and highlighting Tehran’s ongoing cooperation with international bodies.
