Islamabad, June 24, 2025: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, on Tuesday praised Pakistan’s proactive and constructive role in promoting a peaceful resolution to the evolving regional security situation, particularly through diplomatic engagement at international forums, including the United Nations Security Council.

The remarks came during a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, where both sides discussed the regional security landscape — with particular focus on the recent escalation between Iran and Israel — as well as matters of bilateral interest.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended warm greetings and best wishes for Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He also conveyed his sincere good wishes for the successful convening of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and appreciated the ongoing consultations regarding his participation in the Summit, scheduled to be held in China in late August.

Reaffirming the historic and iron-clad “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between Pakistan and China, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, especially through the timely and successful implementation of key projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He specifically highlighted the importance of major initiatives such as the ML-1 railway project, the realignment of the Karakoram Highway (KKH), operationalization of Gwadar Port, and enhanced collaboration in agriculture, industry, and the information technology sectors.

Prime Minister Sharif also expressed deep gratitude for China’s continued financial and economic support, which he said had played a crucial role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and improving its macroeconomic outlook. He emphasized that such support was critical to achieving the government’s broader socio-economic development objectives.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, in turn, briefed the prime minister on various dimensions of bilateral cooperation and confirmed that preparations were already underway to ensure the success of the prime minister’s planned visit to China in August.
