Islamabad, June 24, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday held separate meetings with the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and Qatar to discuss the rapidly evolving security situation in the Middle East, following Iran’s missile attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar.

In his meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malkiy, the prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability. “Pakistan will continue to work closely with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy,” the prime minister posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

He also extended prayers and best wishes for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Prime Minister Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep-rooted solidarity with the government and the people of Saudi Arabia.

In a separate meeting with Qatari Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed solidarity with the Amir and the people of Qatar in the aftermath of the attack. “We pray for the safety and security of our Qatari brothers and sisters, and the entire region,” the prime minister said.

He emphasized that Pakistan has consistently advocated dialogue and diplomacy as the only path toward sustainable peace in the Middle East.

The meetings followed late-night telephonic conversations the prime minister held with both ambassadors on Monday, during which he expressed grave concern over reports of missile strikes on the U.S. military facility in Qatar. He urged all parties to exercise restraint and make concerted efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore peace.

The Qatari ambassador thanked the prime minister for reaching out immediately after the “most unfortunate development” and appreciated Pakistan’s expression of solidarity at such a critical time.

During his call with the Saudi ambassador, Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s call for a peaceful resolution of the conflict and underlined the importance of continued coordination between Islamabad and Riyadh. Ambassador Al-Malkiy agreed and stressed the need for both nations to work together to help stabilize the region.
