Islamabad, July 2, 2025: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued a formal notification restoring reserved seats in the National Assembly and all four provincial assemblies, significantly altering the parliamentary strength of several political parties.

According to the notification, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has secured 13 additional seats in the National Assembly — 12 reserved for women and one for minorities — further consolidating its position in the lower house.

National Assembly

A total of 19 lawmakers have been reinstated:

  • PML-N: 13 seats
  • Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP): 4 seats
  • Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F): 2 seats

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly

25 seats have been restored:

  • JUI-F: 10 seats
  • PML-N: 7 seats
  • PPP: 6 seats
  • Awami National Party (ANP): 1 seat
  • Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P): 1 seat

Punjab Assembly

27 lawmakers have been reinstated:

  • PML-N: 23 seats
  • PPP: 2 seats
  • Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP): 1 seat
  • Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q): 1 seat

Sindh Assembly

3 seats have been restored:

  • PPP: 2 seats
  • Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P): 1 seat

The restoration follows the Supreme Court’s verdict on the constitutional interpretation of reserved seats, paving the way for these notifications. The move is expected to have a significant impact on coalition dynamics and legislative decision-making at both federal and provincial levels.
