Islamabad, July 22, 2025: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Mr. Omar Ayub Khan, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and property caused by recent flash floods and rain-related incidents across Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad.

In a statement issued on Monday, Omar Ayub extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the devastation along the Gilgit-Babusar Road, where heavy rainfall, landslides, and swollen rivers have wreaked havoc, claiming several lives and destroying infrastructure.

“The loss of precious lives and the scale of destruction is deeply distressing. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” he said. “The entire nation stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.”

Calling the situation a national challenge, he emphasized the need for unity, compassion, and urgent coordinated response. He urged both federal and provincial governments, along with all relevant departments, to intensify and accelerate rescue and relief efforts. He particularly stressed the importance of locating missing persons and providing immediate medical care to the injured.

Mr. Ayub also offered prayers for the departed souls and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in the disaster.

In addition, the Opposition Leader expressed sorrow over recent tragic incidents in Rawalpindi and Islamabad that resulted in the loss of innocent lives. He extended condolences to the affected families, praying for strength and patience for them to bear this irreparable loss.
