Islamabad, August 4, 2025: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of Rs1.75 per unit in electricity tariffs under the quarterly adjustment mechanism.

The move comes in response to a petition filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) for the fourth quarter adjustment of the fiscal year 2024–25. NEPRA conducted a public hearing on the matter and is currently reviewing the submitted data in detail before issuing a formal notification.

According to preliminary estimates, the tariff cut is expected to provide a relief of approximately Rs53.39 billion to electricity consumers nationwide.

The reduction will apply not only to government-operated distribution companies (DISCOs) but also to K-Electric, ensuring that consumers across both public and private utility networks benefit from the decision.
