Rawalpindi, August 8, 2025: Pakistani security forces killed 33 terrorists attempting to infiltrate from Afghanistan into Zhob district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

According to the military’s media wing, the incident took place late Thursday night when troops detected a large group of militants from the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), described as India-backed by the ISPR, moving towards the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in the Sambaza area of Balochistan.

The statement said troops engaged the infiltrators in a “precise, bold and skilful” operation, preventing their entry and eliminating all 33 militants. A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered, while a sanitisation operation is under way to clear the area of any remaining threats.

“The security forces of Pakistan remain resolute in defending the nation’s frontiers and eradicating Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the operation, paying tribute to the armed forces for their “remarkable success” in thwarting the infiltration attempt. “Our brave soldiers risked their lives to crush the nefarious designs of the terrorists. The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its security forces in this fight,” he said in a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

The premier reaffirmed his government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism “in all its forms” from Pakistani soil.

Separately, the Pakistan Army and police carried out a joint search and targeted operation against militants in Bannu, based on intelligence reports. Several suspects were taken into custody, and the houses of two alleged facilitators were demolished, Radio Pakistan reported.

Local residents welcomed the operation, terming it vital for public safety, and expressed full support for security forces’ efforts to restore lasting peace in the region.
