Islamabad, August 22, 2025: In a major crackdown, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) and the Directorate of Quality Control have uncovered counterfeit medicines being sold in Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan for fever, body pain, inflammation, stomach and chest ailments, throat infections, and fungal diseases.

DRAP has released images of the fake medicines, warning the public that counterfeit tablets and capsules for multiple illnesses, including gynecological conditions and neuropathy, are being marketed under the names of well-known international and local pharmaceutical brands.

According to DRAP, drug testing laboratories in Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan confirmed the samples as fake, prompting the issuance of an immediate rapid alert at the request of provincial governments.

The counterfeit medicines identified include:

  • Brexin Tablets (painkiller, Batch No. 1192087)
  • Zetro 500mg Tablets (for throat infection, Batch No. F18031)
  • Augmentin 625mg Tablets (for chest infection, Batch No. 7F4W)
  • Tonoflex P Tablets (painkiller, Batch No. KFM145)
  • Efaston 10mg Tablets (gynecological medicine, Batch No. 41160)
  • Gabica 300mg Capsules (for neuropathy, Batch No. 403C27)
  • Imcomox Capsules (for throat infection, Batch No. 08)
  • Omnidol NU Tablets (for fever and body pain, Batch No. 1220)

According to DRAP, the companies whose medicines were found to be counterfeit include Olive Laboratories, IMCO Pharmaceuticals, Getz Pharma, Lahore Chemical and Pharmaceuticals, Sami Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan, and several others.

DRAP has urged citizens to exercise caution and immediately report any suspicious or unverified medicines being sold in the market.
