Lahore, August 25, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday dismissed reports about possible changes in national team captaincy, calling speculation over Shan Masood’s Test role and Mohammad Rizwan’s ODI leadership “baseless.”

According to PCB sources, there is no proposal under consideration to replace Shan with Saud Shakeel as Test captain, nor is Salman Ali Agha being considered to succeed Rizwan in ODIs. The board also clarified that no player’s contract category has been altered.

The clarification came after reports circulated on social media suggesting imminent captaincy changes. The PCB said the selection committee has not discussed such matters.

Pakistan are set to feature in the Tri-Nation Series with Afghanistan and the UAE in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7, before shifting focus to the Asia Cup starting September 9. The men in green will face Oman on September 12, India on September 14, and the UAE on September 17 in Group A matches.
