Ali had been battling lung and kidney complications for several months, alongside paralysis and a heart condition. Family sources said he was admitted to a hospital in Lahore’s Raiwind area on Sunday after his health deteriorated, but he could not recover and breathed his last a day later.

He performed in more than 1,000 plays, including the Lahore Arts Council’s celebrated stage production Shaadi Ka Laddo.
Colleagues and fans had been praying for his recovery in recent weeks. On August 8, fellow comedian Nasir Chinyoti had appealed on social media for prayers for Ali’s health. The veteran actor had earlier been admitted to a private hospital, but was discharged after treatment.
Ali’s son said his father had been unwell for several months, and his condition worsened significantly before his final hospitalisation.
