Rawalpindi, September 13, 2025: The Pakistan Army killed 35 terrorists and lost 12 soldiers in two major counterterrorism operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) between September 10 and 13, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bajaur after confirming militant presence. “Troops engaged the location and, following an intense exchange of fire, 22 terrorists were eliminated,” the statement said.
In a separate clash in South Waziristan, 13 more militants were killed, while 12 soldiers embraced martyrdom during heavy fighting.
Recovered weapons and ammunition indicated the militants were “Indian-sponsored terrorists” who had been involved in multiple attacks across the region. ISPR further noted that intelligence confirmed the direct involvement of Afghan nationals in the assaults.
“The continued use of Afghan soil by Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists remains a grave concern. Pakistan expects the Afghan authorities to fulfil their responsibilities and prevent such activities,” the statement added.
The army said sanitisation operations are ongoing to clear the area of remaining threats. “Such sacrifices of our brave men only strengthen our resolve to eradicate terrorism from the country,” ISPR affirmed.
Pakistan has seen a sharp escalation in militant violence in recent months, particularly along the KP and Balochistan borders. Following the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, cross-border terror incidents have surged.
