London, September 29, 2025: England all-rounder Chris Woakes on Monday announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a distinguished 15-year career.

The 36-year-old confirmed the decision through a heartfelt Instagram post titled “Pleasure has been all mine! No regrets,” thanking his family, teammates, coaches and fans for their support.

Woakes made his England debut in January 2011 against Australia and went on to feature in 62 Tests, 122 ODIs and 33 T20Is. He was an integral part of England’s triumphs at the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. His final international appearance came in August 2025, during the fifth Test against India, before a shoulder injury cut short his summer.

“Playing for England was something I aspired to do since I was a kid dreaming in the back garden, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have lived out those dreams,” Woakes said. “Lifting two World Cups and being part of some amazing Ashes series are memories I’ll cherish forever.”

He reserved special thanks for his parents, wife Amie, and daughters Laila and Evie, along with Warwickshire and England teammates.

Woakes confirmed he will continue to play county cricket and explore opportunities in franchise T20 leagues worldwide.
