Bangkok/Islamabad, September 29, 2025: Pakistan’s Sameer Khan made history in Bangkok on Monday by defeating India’s Bunty Singh to win the Youth World Bantamweight Title, the nation’s first-ever crown in this category.
President Asif Ali Zardari led the tributes, hailing the 19-year-old’s victory as a “moment of pride for the entire nation.” In a statement from the Presidency, Zardari said: “Sameer Khan has brought glory to Pakistan at the international level. His hard work, determination, and passion are commendable.”
In the 52kg final, Sameer dominated from the outset and floored his Indian opponent with a decisive knockout. The referees unanimously confirmed his victory, sparking celebrations among the Pakistani contingent. His signature “Jet Celebration” further electrified the atmosphere, rattling his rival and thrilling spectators.
After the bout, Sameer dedicated the title to Pakistan, the armed forces, and the martyrs, saying the triumph belonged to the nation.
The landmark achievement not only elevates Pakistan’s standing in global boxing but also inspires a new generation of young athletes.
