Lahore, October 7, 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to make several changes to the national white-ball squads ahead of the upcoming home series against South Africa, scheduled from October 28 to November 8, according to media reports on Tuesday.

Sources close to the selection committee said two to three changes are under consideration for the T20 International (T20I) squad, with discussions focusing on the team’s performance in the recently concluded ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025.

The position of T20 captain Salman Ali Agha is reportedly being reviewed after a series of underwhelming performances both as skipper and with the bat. Selectors are also weighing the return of experienced players alongside the inclusion of promising newcomers to strengthen the side ahead of the home season.

While minor adjustments to the ODI squad are also being discussed, officials have yet to finalise the selections.

Earlier, the PCB announced Pakistan’s Test squad for the two-match home series against South Africa, starting October 12 in Lahore, but later trimmed the list from 18 to 16 players, releasing uncapped spinner Faisal Akram and all-rounder Aamir Jamal.

Shan Masood will lead the red-ball side, which features two uncapped players — Asif Afridi and Rohail Nazir. The series marks the start of Pakistan’s ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 campaign and the return of international cricket to Faisalabad after 17 years.

The first Test will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from October 12 to 16, followed by the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from October 20 to 24.

South Africa last toured Pakistan for a Test series in January 2021, which the hosts won 2-0.

After the Test leg, both teams will play a three-match T20I series from October 28 to November 1, with matches scheduled in Rawalpindi and Lahore, before concluding the tour with a three-match ODI series from November 4 to 8 at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
