Islamabad, October 12, 2025: Pakistan’s security forces launched a powerful and coordinated counteroffensive along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, seizing 19 Afghan military posts in response to what officials described as “unprovoked aggression” from the Afghan side.
According to security sources, Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes targeted several key Afghan positions — including Manojia Battalion Headquarters, Gharnali Headquarters, and Durrani Camp — which were completely destroyed. Dozens of Afghan soldiers and members of militant factions referred to as Khawarij were reportedly killed.
The exchange began late Saturday night after Afghan forces opened fire without provocation at multiple locations, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baramcha. Pakistan’s forces effectively repelled several attempted cross-border infiltrations by militants.
Security officials said that Pakistan’s counterattack was “swift, effective, and proportionate,” resulting in the capture of 19 positions from which attacks on Pakistani territory had been launched.
Videos circulating on social media showed flames and destruction at the captured Afghan posts, with reports suggesting that many Taliban personnel had abandoned their positions, while others had surrendered. Some members of militant outfits attempting to infiltrate were killed during the operation.
In Chaman sector, Pakistan’s forces reportedly destroyed multiple Taliban and militant positions, forcing the attackers to retreat. The Barabcha area, believed to be a launch site for cross-border militants, was also targeted, inflicting heavy casualties and material losses on the insurgents. Several tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed in precision strikes.
Pakistan’s forces also took control of a key Taliban post in the Zhob sector, where the Pakistani flag was raised after the destruction of an Afghan Humvee armored vehicle stationed there.
In Kurram, Pakistani artillery successfully neutralized an Afghan tank position across the border. Overall, officials said 27 targets linked to militant facilitation networks were hit, including posts that provided shelter and logistical support to cross-border infiltrators.
Among the most significant strikes were the complete destruction of Durrani Camp 2 and Gharnali Headquarters, where more than 50 Afghan soldiers and militants were reported killed.
Security sources further confirmed that Pakistan also targeted Kharcher Fort, identified as a command center for militant groups, along with Afghani Shaheedan Post in Baramcha and multiple Afghan posts in Kharlachi sector.
Drone and air assets were also deployed during the operation to strike ISIS-affiliated and Khawarij elements, who were reportedly routed after intense bombardment.
The Manojia Battalion Headquarters 1 and 2, as well as Mila and Turkmanzai Camps, were completely destroyed, with dozens of Taliban fighters killed. Afghan posts in Leuband, Qila Abdullah, Chagai, and near Chitral were also eliminated through sustained artillery and tank fire.
According to intelligence sources, the Afghan firing appeared aimed at facilitating the infiltration of militant groups into Pakistani territory.
Pakistan’s security officials emphasized that the country would not tolerate cross-border aggression and would continue to take “decisive and proportionate action” to safeguard its borders.
