Islamabad, October 27, 2025: Pakistan has announced the temporary closure of its airspace for three hours daily on October 28 and 29, according to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA).
The NOTAM stated that airspace across designated sectors would remain closed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on both days. All airlines and aviation operators have been informed to adjust their flight schedules accordingly.
According to official sources, the precautionary decision was made in light of potential Indian military exercises near the Pakistani border. Indian media reports indicate that New Delhi plans to hold “Trishul 2025”, a large-scale tri-service combat exercise, along the western border from October 30 to November 10. India has also restricted its own airspace near Gujarat and Rajasthan during the drills.
The development comes amid lingering tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, following the April 22 terrorist attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam area, which India blamed on Pakistan without evidence. Islamabad rejected the allegations and offered an international investigation into the incident.
Hostilities briefly escalated in May 2025, leading to the Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, during which Pakistan’s armed forces responded to Indian strikes. The confrontation ended after 87 hours, with a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States on May 10.
During a recent visit to forward posts in the Creeks Area, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s readiness to defend the country’s maritime frontiers, emphasizing vigilance in the face of regional military developments.
