Islamabad, November 15,2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Saturday reiterated their “zero-tolerance” stance against any displacement of Palestinians from the besieged Gaza Strip, following Israel’s devastating military offensive in the territory.
The reaffirmation came during a bilateral meeting at the Prime Minister’s House, held as the Jordanian monarch arrived in Pakistan for a two-day state visit.
According to a statement from the PM Office, both leaders noted the “unanimity of views and principled positions” shared by Pakistan and Jordan on the post-war situation in Gaza. They agreed that any attempt to forcibly remove Palestinians from the enclave was unacceptable.
The two countries are among eight Muslim states working with the United States on a ceasefire roadmap and a Gaza Peace Plan finalised in Sharm el Sheikh last month. Pakistan and Jordan also joined key Muslim and Arab states on Friday in backing a US-led resolution calling for an international stabilisation force in Gaza.
King Abdullah II commended Pakistan’s sustained diplomatic support for Jordan’s role in promoting regional stability and humanitarian efforts during and after the Gaza conflict.
The talks also centred on strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, health, science and technology, defence, education, and other sectors.
“Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing strategic and economic ties between Pakistan and Jordan, as well as expanding mutually beneficial collaboration at regional and international fora,” the PM Office said.
The meeting included an extensive exchange of views on regional peace and security. PM Shehbaz briefed King Abdullah II on developments in Pakistan’s neighbourhood, particularly the situations in Afghanistan and India. The Jordanian king acknowledged Pakistan’s “key role in maintaining peace and stability” in the region.
The two dignitaries also witnessed a ceremony for the signing of memorandums of understanding in media, culture, and education. Later, PM Shehbaz hosted a banquet in honour of King Abdullah II and his delegation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Climate Change Minister Musaddiq Malik, and senior officials attended the meeting.
King Abdullah II was presented with a guard of honour upon his arrival at the PM House.
Earlier, the Jordanian king was received at the Nur Khan Airbase by PM Shehbaz and President Asif Ali Zardari. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari were also present.
President Zardari said the visit would impart “a new strategic dimension” to Pakistan–Jordan relations, describing the bond between the two countries as rooted in brotherhood, trust and shared values.
State broadcaster PTV News said the visit reflected the “longstanding fraternal relations” between the two countries and would further deepen political, economic and cultural cooperation. A Pakistan Air Force JF-17 formation escorted the royal aircraft as it entered Pakistani airspace.
King Abdullah II last visited Pakistan during the tenure of former president Mamnoon Hussain, when both countries signed MoUs on civil protection, defence cooperation and the housing sector.
Last month, he praised Pakistan’s military contributions to regional peace during a meeting with Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir in Amman, which was also attended by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.
