Islamabad, November 25, 2025: Pakistan on Tuesday expressed strong concern over the flag hoisting at the so-called “Ram Temple” constructed on the site of the historic Babri Mosque in Ayodhya, calling it part of a broader pattern of discrimination against religious minorities in India.

In a statement, the Foreign Office noted that the Babri Mosque, a centuries-old place of worship, was demolished on 6 December 1992 by extremist mobs inspired by fascist ideologies. The subsequent judicial processes in India, which acquitted those responsible and allowed the construction of a temple on the site, were cited as evidence of the Indian state’s discriminatory approach toward minorities.

The FO said the incident reflects the systematic erosion of Muslim cultural and religious heritage under the influence of majoritarian Hindutva ideology. “Numerous other historic mosques now face similar threats of desecration or demolition, while Indian Muslims continue to experience growing social, economic, and political marginalization,” the statement added.

Pakistan called on the international community, including the United Nations, to take cognizance of the rising Islamophobia, hate speech, and hate-motivated attacks in India and to play a constructive role in protecting Islamic heritage and the rights of religious minorities.

The FO urged the Government of India to ensure the security of all religious communities and protect their places of worship in accordance with international human rights obligations.
