Rawalpindi, November 26,2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to fully supporting the federal and provincial governments, stressing that coordinated national efforts and institutional synergy are vital for sustainable peace, stability and prosperity.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made the remarks during the visit of participants of the National Security Workshop-27 (NSW-27) to the General Headquarters (GHQ), where they received detailed briefings on Pakistan’s internal and regional security landscape as well as the broader national security environment.
In an interactive session, Field Marshal Munir outlined the fluid regional environment shaped by intensifying geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism and hybrid threats. He said that despite these complex challenges — including externally backed militancy and information-centric warfare — Pakistan’s armed forces, intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions continue to demonstrate “unwavering professionalism and resolve” in safeguarding national security.
“Pakistan is a country of consequence and is destined to take its rightful place among nations,” the ISPR quoted the COAS as saying.
The army chief said the professionalism and resolve displayed by the armed forces during Marka-e-Haq — the period of conflict with India from the April 22 Pahalgam attack to the May 10 conclusion of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos — had strengthened Pakistan’s international standing.
He emphasised that the nation’s greatest strength lies in unity, adding that through collective resolve, Pakistan will defeat the designs of its adversaries.
Participants were also briefed on national measures to curb illegal activities, including smuggling, narcotics trafficking and organised crime. The ISPR said updates were shared on enhanced border controls and the repatriation of illegal foreigners, which authorities say are aimed at maintaining internal order and protecting national interests.
Reiterating the Army’s priorities, Field Marshal Munir stressed that Pakistan’s territorial integrity, security and the protection of every citizen “will not be compromised under any circumstances.”
NSW-27, a flagship programme of the National Defence University (NDU), brings together parliamentarians, senior civil and military officials, academics and civil society representatives for high-level discussions on national security.
Separately, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Dr Ali Larijani, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on Field Marshal Munir at GHQ.
The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation, regional security issues and the need to further strengthen Pakistan-Iran ties. Both sides discussed prevailing regional security dynamics, the ISPR said.
Field Marshal Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation with Iran to combat terrorism. He also highlighted the growing significance of strategic partnership amid evolving geopolitical developments.
Dr Larijani acknowledged Pakistan’s pivotal role in promoting regional peace and stability and expressed Iran’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
