Islamabad, December 6,2025: A judicial magistrate on Saturday granted bail to Abuzar, the son of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Mohammed Asif, after the families of two young women killed in a fatal traffic accident pardoned him during court proceedings.
The accident occurred late Monday night near the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA), when a black speeding SUV, allegedly driven by Abuzar, struck two young women riding a scooter. Both victims, who worked part-time for an event management company, died on the spot due to severe injuries.
Abuzar was arrested on Tuesday after being traced to a private hospital where he had reportedly gone for medical treatment. Police impounded the vehicle, collected medical and forensic samples and registered a case at the Secretariat Police Station under Sections 322 (manslaughter), 279 (rash driving), and 427 (mischief causing damage) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
He was produced before Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi on Saturday following the completion of his four-day physical remand. The court recorded statements from the victims’ families — one victim’s brother appeared in person while her mother submitted her statement online. The father of the second victim also confirmed his pardon.
After the statements were recorded, the magistrate accepted Abuzar’s bail plea and ordered his immediate release.
Earlier, the police had sought physical remand to verify medical reports, conduct a technical inspection of the SUV, and record eyewitness accounts.
The incident has drawn comparisons to a 2022 Islamabad hit-and-run case involving the daughter of a Lahore High Court (LHC) judge. In that case, two men, Shakeel Tanoli and Hasnain Ali, were killed near the Sohan Bridge on the Expressway when an SUV allegedly driven by a woman struck them.
In July 2024, Islamabad’s police chief informed the IHC that the vehicle involved was in the use of Supreme Court Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed. In February 2025, Judicial Magistrate Adnan Yousuf acquitted the judge’s daughter, Shanzay Malik, after accepting her acquittal application.
