Islamabad, December 10, 2025: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday said that the historical bond between the State of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the State of Pakistan is deep-rooted, describing the defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as historic.
Addressing participants of an Ulema and Mashaikh conference, the army chief said that Allah Almighty has bestowed upon Pakistan the honour of being the guardians of the Two Holy Mosques, calling it a source of immense pride for the nation.
Field Marshal Munir urged religious scholars to play their role in keeping the nation united and promoting religious tolerance to foster an environment of peaceful coexistence in society.
He emphasised that whenever a nation abandons the pursuit of knowledge and the love for learning, chaos and corruption prevail. “Honour and power are earned through hard work and knowledge. These virtues are not achieved by creating divisions in society,” he added.
The army chief also stressed that in an Islamic society, only the state has the authority to issue orders for waging jihad, underlining the importance of discipline and adherence to constitutional and religious principles.
Referring to security challenges, General Munir said that Pakistan had been severely affected by terrorism, which he alleged was being promoted by India, calling it India’s “favourite tool.”
He asserted that the Pakistan Army never acted in secrecy against its enemies, but confronted threats openly. “With the grace of Almighty Allah, the Pakistan Army achieved significant success against India in Marka-e-Haq,” he said.
The address concluded with a call for unity, knowledge, and religious harmony as the foundations of national strength and stability.
