Islamabad, December 18,2025: Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb, on Thursday held a meeting with Yerzhan Kistafin, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, to discuss bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Afghanistan–Kazakhstan relations, regional connectivity, major infrastructure initiatives, as well as opportunities and challenges in regional trade. They also discussed Kazakhstan’s role in promoting regional stability and other matters of mutual interest.

Ambassador Shakeeb appreciated Kazakhstan’s continued support and its constructive approach towards peace and economic development in Afghanistan. He expressed hope that the finalisation of the proposed USD 3 billion joint trade agreement would bring tangible benefits not only to Afghanistan and Kazakhstan but also to the wider region.

Ambassador Kistafin reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for stability and economic development in Afghanistan, highlighting his country’s efforts to advance major projects in regional connectivity, trade, bilateral commerce and related sectors. He noted that the prevailing stability and security situation in Afghanistan has increased Kazakhstan’s optimism regarding regional connectivity and trade, and commended the efforts of the Islamic Emirate in this regard.

He also stressed the importance of collective action by regional countries to ensure lasting stability, economic growth and the smooth flow of transit across the region.
