Islamabad declares local holiday on Dec 26 for UAE President’s visit

Islamabad, December 24, 2025: The Islamabad administration on Wednesday announced a local holiday in the federal capital on Friday, December 26, in view of the arrival of President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to a notification issued by the Islamabad district administration, a local holiday will be observed within the limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on December 26. However, the notification clarified that federal government offices, including the Federal Secretariat, as well as district institutions providing essential services, will remain open.

Subsequently, the Cabinet Division issued a clarificatory notification stating that the federal government and its offices will continue to function as usual on December 26. It clarified that all federal ministries, divisions, and attached departments will remain open, federal employees will not be granted a holiday, and the Federal Secretariat will remain fully functional.

Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, will undertake his first official visit to Pakistan on December 26, 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During the visit, the UAE president will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior officials. He is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which the two leaders will review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
