EU Ambassador calls on NA Speaker to discuss bilateral cooperation

Islamabad, January 14, 2026: European Union Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Raimundas Karoblis, on Tuesday called on Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, at the Parliament House in Islamabad. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq warmly welcomed the Ambassador on his arrival.

During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on bilateral relations between Pakistan and the European Union, exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation and addressing key regional and global issues.

Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reaffirmed his commitment to deepening cordial ties and highlighted the importance of parliamentary relations and diplomacy in advancing mutual interests. He noted that inter-parliamentary links between Pakistan and EU member states could play a significant role in promoting understanding and cooperation. He also expressed his best wishes for peace and stability in Europe, particularly in Ukraine, and hoped for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Ambassador Raimundas Karoblis congratulated the Speaker on Pakistan’s GSP+ status and expressed keen interest in further strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and the European Union. He also appreciated the role of the Pakistani diaspora in EU member countries, recognizing their significant contributions to development and prosperity.

The Ambassador lauded Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for his efforts in promoting democratic values and for conducting the proceedings of the National Assembly in a democratic and impartial manner.
