Islamabad, January 22, 2026: The U.S. Mission to Pakistan on Wednesday officially launched its Freedom 250 Liberty Bell initiative, themed “Let Freedom Ring,” with an unveiling ceremony held at Lincoln Corner Islamabad to mark the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence.
U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker unveiled a full-sized replica of the iconic Liberty Bell, formally kicking off a series of commemorative events aimed at celebrating the United States’ founding principles and highlighting the enduring role of diplomacy in shaping America’s national journey and global engagement.
Originally cast in 1752, the Liberty Bell—housed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—is one of the most enduring symbols of American freedom and democracy. The bell played a historic role during the American Revolution and rang to mark key milestones, including the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. Today, it stands as a powerful reminder of the United States’ core ideals of freedom, justice, and equality.
Speaking at the event, Chargé d’Affaires Baker reflected on the Liberty Bell’s legacy and its connection to pivotal chapters in U.S. history, including the abolition of slavery. “The Liberty Bell is an iconic symbol of American independence. It is fitting that we are standing inside the Lincoln Corner, a place that promotes learning about America and American values, including freedom of speech,” she said.
She also highlighted the contributions of American diplomats with historical ties to Philadelphia, noting that such personal and historical connections help strengthen the U.S.–Pakistan relationship.
As part of the “Let Freedom Ring” initiative, the U.S. Mission plans to distribute 15 Liberty Bell replicas to Lincoln Corners across Pakistan. Local artists and student volunteers will be invited to paint the bells under the theme “What Freedom Means to Me,” offering creative interpretations of freedom from diverse perspectives.
The decorated bells will be showcased during U.S. Independence Day celebrations in Pakistan this summer and featured in a commemorative video to be shared by the U.S. Embassy, amplifying Pakistani voices and artistic talent while reinforcing shared values of freedom and expression.
