Accra, January 27,2026: Pakistan and Ghana convened their first-ever Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) on January 26, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary, while the Ghanaian side was headed by Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, Chief Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the consultations, the two sides signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs). These included an MoU on Bilateral Political Consultations and another between the Foreign Service Academy, Islamabad, and the Ghana Foreign Service Institute, aimed at enhancing diplomatic training and institutional cooperation.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen bilateral ties and agreed to expand cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including political engagement, trade and investment, defence, tourism, culture, health, education, information technology, and other mutually beneficial areas.
It was also agreed that the next round of Bilateral Political Consultations will be held in Islamabad next year.
Pakistan and Ghana enjoy friendly and cooperative relations spanning several decades. The launch of an institutionalized dialogue mechanism is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties through more focused, practical, and project-oriented cooperation.
