Addis Ababa, February 6,2026: The recent visit of renowned Pakistani Quran reciter and prominent religious leader Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has been described as the beginning of a new era in people-to-people relations between the two countries.
The visit followed a recent meeting between Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Oumer H. Oba, and Qari Syed Sadaqat Ali at the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, reflecting growing engagement aimed at strengthening cultural and religious connections.
During his stay in Ethiopia, Qari Sadaqat Ali met with His Eminence Sheikh Haji Ibrahim Tufa, President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council. He also delivered a sermon at a mosque in Addis Ababa, where he emphasized the deep historical and spiritual links between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
In his address, the Pakistani religious scholar highlighted Ethiopia’s significance in Islamic history as the land of Hazrat Bilal al-Habashi and King Najashi—two revered figures known for their contributions to early Islam.
Qari Sadaqat Ali also visited the museum dedicated to Hazrat Bilal al-Habashi, describing the experience as an honor and a symbol of the shared religious heritage that continues to connect Muslim communities across regions.
Observers view the visit as a meaningful step toward enhancing mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and religious cooperation between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
