Beijing, February 20,2026: The robot performances at this year’s Spring Festival Gala have captured global attention, emerging as a powerful symbol of China’s growing technological prowess. A survey released by China Media Group (CMG) shows that 94 percent of respondents worldwide believe the CMG Spring Festival Gala has become an important platform for showcasing China’s achievements in technological innovation.
Viewers across continents expressed amazement at the precision and coordination of the robots featured in the program. An Algerian netizen described the performance as “incredible,” noting that at first it was hard to believe the performers were robots at all. “Their speed, coordination, and flawless execution were truly impressive—most importantly, there were zero mistakes,” the user said.
According to the survey, 88.8 percent of respondents were surprised by what they described as the Chinese robotics industry’s “groundbreaking progress,” highlighting its transition from basic mechanical structures to systems embedded with intelligence. Meanwhile, 86.5 percent said the collaboration between human creativity and artificial intelligence delivered an entirely new aesthetic experience.
International media outlets echoed this enthusiasm. Associated Press called the robot segment “one of the biggest highlights” of this year’s Gala. The New York Times also spotlighted the performance, noting that robots demonstrating drunken boxing, sword dancing, and jumping routines were not merely copying movements. Instead, the paper observed, they blended the “spirit” of traditional Chinese martial arts with mechanical precision.
Survey findings further underscored this sentiment, with 90.4 percent of respondents saying the “Spring Festival robots” represented China’s overall level of technological innovation—a dual showcase of cultural charm and technological capability.
China’s broader robotics sector is also expanding rapidly. By 2025, industrial robot production in the country reached 773,000 units, marking a 28 percent year-on-year increase and setting a new record. Embedded intelligence has been identified as a key focus area in national planning for future industries, reinforcing expectations of sustained innovation.
Public confidence in this trajectory appears strong. Some netizens commented that robotics and artificial intelligence would become major forces strengthening China’s technological competitiveness—an opinion shared by 87.9 percent of survey respondents, many of whom said they anticipate a new leap in Chinese technology.
Beyond national borders, respondents also pointed to China’s global impact. The survey found that 93.6 percent believe China’s technological innovation has significantly contributed to global science, technology, and smart manufacturing, while 93.3 percent expressed hope that their own countries would continue to deepen cooperation with China in science and technology.
Together, the survey results and international reactions suggest that the Spring Festival Gala has evolved beyond entertainment, becoming a global stage where culture, innovation, and technological ambition converge.
