Islamabad, March 13,2026: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday directed authorities to ensure effective management of the Red Zone and improve civic services in the federal capital while chairing a high-level meeting on law and order.
During the meeting, it was decided that Islamabad’s 109 entry points will be gradually reduced to 25 to strengthen security management and monitoring across the city.
The minister instructed officials to make the Red Zone fully operational in practical terms and directed the relevant departments to devise a comprehensive strategy for its effective management.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that strict monitoring at checkpoints and entry points must be ensured to make security arrangements foolproof. He said checkpoints should not exist merely in name but must demonstrate real effectiveness in maintaining security.
He stressed that maintaining law and order in the federal capital must be ensured at all costs.
The interior minister also directed authorities to improve civic facilities and services in the city. He said Assistant Commissioners will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness and the removal of encroachments, adding that unnecessary items placed along major roads should be removed immediately.
Naqvi assured the administrative staff of the government’s full support in efforts aimed at improving city management, ensuring development, and enforcing the law.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Commissioner, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner, DIGs, SSPs, SPs, and all Assistant Commissioners.
