Murree/Rawalpindi, March 18,2026: Murree Police have finalized foolproof security and traffic arrangements in anticipation of an estimated 400,000 to 500,000 tourists visiting the ‘Queen of Hills’ during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer, in a special video message on Tuesday, issued a comprehensive travel advisory and termed the use of the **”Safe Tourism Murree”** mobile application essential for visitors to ensure a hassle-free journey.

Highlighting last year’s influx, official data from Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 revealed that 28,688 vehicles entered Murree on the first day, followed by 51,380 and 57,855 vehicles on the second and third days, respectively. On the fourth day, 35,119 vehicles were recorded, bringing an estimated 400,000 to 600,000 tourists to the district during the holiday period.

The DPO noted that while court directives suggest a daily capacity of 8,000 vehicles, the number often surges to 12,000 during peak events like New Year’s Eve. Given the historical data, a specialized traffic management plan has been implemented to accommodate the expected high volume of traffic this Eid.

Dr. Muhammad Raza Tanveer Spra urged tourists to download the ‘Safe Tourism Murree’ app from the Google Play Store before starting their journey, explaining that the application serves as a comprehensive digital gateway providing one-touch access to the Police, Rescue 1122, Traffic, and Motorway Police.

He further highlighted that the app features a Virtual Women Police Station specifically for the safety of female travelers, offers direct WhatsApp connectivity with the DPO Murree for emergencies, and provides real-time information regarding hotels, tourist spots, and police station locations, alongside weather updates facilitated by an integrated AI Chatbot.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in Murree and its suburbs during the Eid holidays. In view of this, the DPO advised tourists to check weather reports frequently, exercise extreme caution while driving in rain or fog, and strictly adhere to traffic regulations.

“Ensuring a safe and friendly environment for tourists is our top priority,” the DPO stated, adding that the ‘Safe Tourism’ app is a significant milestone in modernizing tourist facilitation and safety in the region. Visitors are encouraged to dial the 15 or use the app for any immediate assistance.
