Islamabad, March 29, 2026: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially resumed its London operations after a six-year suspension. The first flight, PK-785, departed from Islamabad carrying 325 passengers, marking a significant milestone for the national carrier.
The flight was seen off by Secretary Defence Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Ali and British High Commissioner Jane Marriott. A simple yet dignified ceremony was held at Islamabad International Airport, attended by PIA Consortium Chairman Arif Habib and senior aviation officials.
The inaugural flight included celebratory moments, with a cake-cutting ceremony and a special lucky draw, where a passenger won a 660cc car. Other passengers were also presented with gifts.
Speaking at the occasion, the Defence Secretary said the resumption of flights will further strengthen relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The British High Commissioner congratulated PIA on restarting its London operations.
PIA is committed to facilitating over 1.6 million Pakistanis living in the UK with direct travel services. Initially, PIA will operate four weekly flights between Pakistan and London — three from Islamabad and one from Lahore. Flights from Lahore to London will begin from March 30.
London was PIA’s first international destination, marking a 71-year-long historic connection.
