Kolkata, March 30, 2026: Cricket Australia (CA) has confirmed that Australian all-rounder Cameron Green will not bowl in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to a lower-back injury, with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fully informed of the situation.
The 26-year-old, who became the most expensive overseas player in IPL history after being signed by KKR for INR 25.2 crores, has been advised by CA to refrain from bowling while his injury is managed.
“Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India and is expected to return to bowling in around 10-12 days. KKR has been communicated with and is fully aware,” a Cricket Australia spokesperson said.
The clarification comes after KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane responded “ask Cricket Australia” when questioned about Green not bowling in their six-wicket defeat against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Rahane, however, remains optimistic about Green resuming bowling soon, noting that it would strengthen the team’s balance.
“I think when hopefully Green starts to bowl soon, the combination will be slightly different,” Rahane said during the post-match presentation. “Batting-wise, we batted really well, but finding the balance with the ball is very important.”
Green has not bowled since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which concluded earlier this month, due to a back injury. He had previously missed 12 months of bowling between September 2024 and October 2025 while recovering from surgery for a stress fracture in his back.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will monitor Green’s progress closely as they look to integrate his full all-round capabilities back into their playing XI in the coming weeks.
