Islamabad, April 2, 2026: Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan, Paulo Domingues, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Pakistan, emphasizing cooperation in trade, culture, and education.

In his welcome message on the official website of the Embassy of Portugal in Islamabad, the ambassador described the platform as an “open window” to Portugal and a key point of contact for people in Pakistan seeking information about the country’s culture, economy, and opportunities.

He appreciated the contributions of his predecessors, particularly Frederico Silva, for their role in enhancing ties between the two countries. He also acknowledged the efforts of the embassy staff for their dedication and professionalism in representing Portugal in Pakistan.

Highlighting historical relations, the ambassador noted that Portugal and Pakistan share a longstanding legacy rooted in centuries of interaction between Europe and South Asia through trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people contacts. He said this heritage continues to shape a modern and forward-looking partnership.

Ambassador Domingues underscored that the Embassy remains fully committed to promoting political dialogue, boosting trade and investment, and strengthening academic, scientific, and cultural collaboration between the two nations.

He further pointed out that, in addition to the Embassy in Islamabad, Portugal operates honorary consulates in Lahore and Karachi, which play an important role in engaging with local communities and supporting bilateral cooperation.

The ambassador said the embassy’s website offers comprehensive information on consular services and highlights Portugal’s activities in Pakistan. It also serves as a resource for Pakistani citizens interested in visiting, studying, working, or investing in Portugal.

He invited the public to regularly visit the platform and follow the Embassy’s social media channels for updates, while reaffirming the mission’s commitment to providing assistance and welcoming feedback.
