Rawalpindi, April 7, 2026: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday presided over the 274th Corps Commanders’ Conference at General Headquarters (GHQ), where Pakistan’s top military leadership reviewed the country’s security environment and reiterated its commitment to counter-terrorism and regional stability.
The forum offered Fateha for the martyrs of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, and civilians who lost their lives in the line of duty, paying tribute to their sacrifices and reaffirming that their legacy remains central to Pakistan’s national security.
The military leadership expressed satisfaction over the operational preparedness of the armed forces, with the COAS commending their professionalism, intelligence-based operations, and continued efforts to safeguard the country. He emphasized that coordinated efforts between the government, armed forces, and the public are strengthening security gains and contributing to economic resilience and Pakistan’s global standing.
Counter-terror operations to continue
The conference undertook a comprehensive review of internal and external security challenges, vowing to pursue and eliminate all terrorist networks and their facilitators operating with external support.
The forum reiterated that the pace of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq would be sustained until the complete dismantling of terrorist safe havens, including those operating from Afghan soil against Pakistan.
Support for diplomatic efforts
The military leadership appreciated the government’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, endorsing calls for restraint, dialogue, and peaceful resolution of conflicts. The forum reaffirmed Pakistan’s role as a responsible regional stakeholder committed to promoting peace and stability.
Concern over attacks on Saudi Arabia
The forum strongly condemned recent attacks on energy and industrial facilities in Saudi Arabia, terming them an unnecessary escalation that could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts. It noted that Saudi Arabia’s measured response had helped create space for mediation, warning that further aggression could derail prospects for peaceful resolution.
Rejection of “disinformation” narratives
The conference also rejected what it described as persistent disinformation and baseless allegations attributed to India, stating that such narratives have been discredited internationally.
The forum expressed concern over continued human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including reports of extrajudicial killings and so-called “fake encounters.”
Directive on operational readiness
In his concluding remarks, General Munir directed commanders to maintain the highest levels of operational readiness, professionalism, and adaptability. He expressed full confidence in the armed forces’ capability to counter evolving threats and ensure Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The conference concluded with a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to both national security and constructive engagement for regional peace.
