Islamabad, May 13,2026: Member National Assembly Isphanyar Bhandara called on Chairman National Database and Registration Authority Lt. Gen. Munir Afsar to discuss issues faced by minority communities, particularly cases where minority citizens are mistakenly registered under the Muslim category in official records.

During the meeting, Mr. Bhandara highlighted the difficulties faced by families in correcting such errors, especially in areas with very small minority populations. He noted that the correction process is often lengthy and complicated, causing unnecessary hardship for affected citizens.

He emphasized the need to sensitize NADRA officials about Pakistan’s diverse religious communities and proposed the establishment of dedicated minority facilitation counters to provide quicker and more efficient assistance to minority citizens.

Chairman NADRA Lt. Gen. Munir Afsar assured Mr. Bhandara that the concerns would be addressed seriously and reiterated the authority’s commitment to improving services for all citizens without discrimination.

During the visit, Mr. Bhandara was given a tour of NADRA’s facilities and was presented with a commemorative shield and a book published on NADRA’s silver jubilee, highlighting the institution’s achievements over the years.

In return, Mr. Bhandara presented Chairman NADRA with the book Gems and Jewels – The Religions of Pakistan by Amineh Ahmed Hoti, describing it as a valuable resource that could help promote awareness and understanding of Pakistan’s religious diversity among NADRA staff.
