Islamabad, May 20, 2026: The Anti-Corruption Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone has claimed a major breakthrough in an ongoing crackdown against an alleged illegal organ trafficking network involved in the extraction and sale of human kidneys.
According to FIA sources, nine suspects have so far been arrested, including a prominent urologist and an employee of a private hospital in Islamabad, both described as key figures in the alleged renal transplant network.
The operation was carried out under the broader anti-corruption campaign launched in line with the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and FIA Director General Usman Anwar, under the supervision of FIA Islamabad Zone Director Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari.
Sources said that during the investigation into the kidney trafficking case, FIA teams raided a well-known private hospital in Islamabad and arrested the doctor and hospital employee allegedly involved in illegal kidney removal procedures.
During the raid, several individuals, including alleged kidney donors and recipients, were also detained for questioning. Hospital staff suspected of links to the network were shifted to FIA offices for further interrogation.
Investigators believe the network specifically targeted vulnerable and financially struggling individuals from underdeveloped areas of South Punjab, including Rahim Yar Khan and Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to officials, the suspects allegedly persuaded poor individuals to sell their kidneys for relatively small amounts, while the organs were reportedly sold onward at much higher prices through illegal channels.
FIA officials said investigations are continuing and additional raids are underway to arrest other alleged members of the network.
The operation has drawn significant public attention, with officials and citizens praising the FIA Islamabad Zone for the crackdown against illegal organ trafficking activities.
