Islamabad, June 29, 2026: The Embassy of Denmark in Pakistan hosted a delegation from Impact Fund Denmark during its visit to Pakistan to review progress on the Danish-financed 33 million gallons per day (MGD) wastewater treatment plant under construction in Faisalabad.
According to the embassy, the delegation travelled to Faisalabad to assess the progress of the project, which, upon completion, will be the largest wastewater treatment plant in the region and a flagship example of the growing green partnership between Denmark and Pakistan.
The project is being designed and constructed by Danish companies, combining Danish technical expertise with Pakistan’s commitment to developing sustainable infrastructure that delivers long-term environmental and social benefits.
The embassy highlighted that wastewater treatment is one of the most effective investments a city can make, as it helps protect rivers by treating wastewater before discharge, improves public health, enables water reuse, and contributes to cleaner and more resilient urban environments.
The visit underscored the strengthening cooperation between Denmark and Pakistan in advancing sustainable development and green infrastructure, with the project serving as a tangible example of how international partnerships can translate shared environmental ambitions into practical results.
