Rawalpindi, July 1, 2026: Pakistan’s security forces successfully intercepted and destroyed four rudimentary drones allegedly launched by the Afghan Taliban regime across the border into Balochistan on June 30, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said on Wednesday.
According to the ISPR, the Afghan Taliban launched the drones as part of what it described as their patronage and support for terrorist outfits operating from territories under their control.
The military said the hostile aerial platforms were immediately detected by Pakistan’s air defence network. It added that security forces, demonstrating a high level of operational readiness, neutralized all four incoming drones using sophisticated countermeasures, preventing any damage.
The ISPR alleged that such actions by the Afghan Taliban were intended to mislead the Afghan public, which it said continues to suffer under the group’s rule.
“The Afghan Taliban should realise that their irresponsible behaviour is only adding to the hardships of the Afghan people. Instead of trying to sedate their population through such antics and hollow rhetoric, they should eschew sponsorship of terrorism and adhere to the principle of peaceful coexistence,” the statement said.
The military further warned that any continued provocations by the Afghan Taliban would be met with a “befitting response” carrying significant consequences.
Reaffirming the armed forces’ preparedness, the ISPR said Pakistan remains fully capable of defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Any misadventure or cross-border provocation threatening Pakistan’s sovereignty and endangering its people will continue to be met with swift, decisive, and overwhelming responses under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq,” the statement added.
