London, November 16, 2024- Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has said that protests and disruptive tactics by opponents will not succeed. Speaking to the media before departing for Pakistan alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Dr. Adnan, and Junaid Safdar, Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to improving the country’s situation, provided his government is allowed to work without interference.

Sharif criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its leadership, accusing them of tarnishing Pakistan’s reputation and plotting against his government. “PTI did nothing but bring disrepute to Pakistan,” he said. Sharif also alleged that his removal as prime minister was orchestrated in connivance with former military officials Qamar Bajwa and Faiz Hameed, along with elements within the judiciary.

“We have endured the worst atrocities and victimization, but we remain steadfast in our resolve to serve the people,” he remarked.

The PML-N leader expressed optimism about Pakistan’s economic recovery, crediting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for steering the country out of its economic crisis. “The indicators show that Pakistan’s economy is recovering,” he said, adding that the PML-N government is fully aware of the challenges faced by the people.

Sharif assured the public of relief from inflation and inflated utility bills, pledging to address the economic hardships with targeted measures. “We understand the pain of the people, and we will deliver on our promise of economic relief,” he stated.

Sharif’s return to Pakistan is being closely watched as a major political development, particularly with the PML-N preparing for upcoming elections. The presence of Maryam Nawaz and other party leaders underscores the party’s united front in addressing both political and economic challenges.

This trip marks Nawaz Sharif’s return after a series of international engagements, including visits to Europe and the United States, aimed at garnering support and aligning strategies for Pakistan’s future.
